KFC creates weird dystopian VR training game

KFC has taken the unusual step of creating an Oculus Rift virtual reality game to help show employees how to prepare Colonel Sanders' iconic chicken.

As if that weren't weird enough, KFC apparently also thought it would be good for this VR game to be a dystopian, BioShock-style "escape room," in which an ominous painting of the Colonel directs your training, shooting lasers from his eyes and using robotic appendages to help you inspect and bread the chicken.

You have to watch this playthrough:

We were pretty sceptical that this was real - and kind of still are - but the news apparently comes from a KFC press release and a KFC spokesperson gave this quote to Eater:

“The game is intended to supplement the existing Chicken Mastery program, not replace it... This is intended to be a fun way to celebrate the work KFC’s more than 19,000 cooks do every day in every restaurant across the U.S. in an engaging way.”

Your move, McDonald's.
