The Witcher is headed to the big screen
Just like the currently in production Assassin's Creed, The Witcher is the next video game franchise being prepared for a big-screen debut.
Studio Platige Films, however, will make the film based on the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, not really the video game, and are working alongside the Sean Daniels company (The Mummy) to produce it. It will be based on the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, particularly with themes from the "Witcher", "Lesser Evil" and "The Last Wish" short stories.
The film will be directed by Oscar nominee Tomasz Baginski, with Thania St. John (of Grimm and Buffy fame) working on the script. No actors have been cast just yet, but you have to wonder who will play Geralt.
The film is currently planned for a 2017 release, and is set to introduce a forthcoming universe as an introductory chapter.
Here's hoping it's better than Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
